I LIKE this a lot. Luke introduced me to math rock. Here is Battles doing "Atlas." (The guy with the semi-fro is a famous jazz musician's son, and the drummer is from Helmet.)

Anyone with more info about math rock, chime in. I'm up for learning all I can here!

  • I don't know a whole lot about it, but I know that Tool has some math rock elements... they like to use unusual time signatures n' stuff.

My friends Derek or Craig could probably expound upon it at length.
    • cool! thank you. how are you doing with everything? i never gave Tool much of a chance. i shall now...ondole taco.
      • Everything's going okay... work stuff is still kinda sucking, but for the most part I'm well. :)

Tool's stuff is a lot heavier/darker than that video you were linking to. Which is not to say that you won't like it, but I've never really gotten the impression that you were much into that genre.

I think Lateralus is probably their most art/math/progressive album to date, though their latest one 10,000 Days is probably just as proggy.

        How's stuffs with you?
        • stuff

hey. things with me are ok too. i had a good cry last night, and today feels a lot less heavy. i'm so sorry about your job crap...any exciting prospects? i've been thinking of you lots. sending some good your way. HUGS, huge huge HUGS.
